Yesterday I was invited to attend one of the biggest fashion tours of India, Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2017. And it was started with a bang at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. Starting 7.30 p.m. onwards. Being 13th edition of this fashion tour, it is always been a platform of style and good taste. A soapbox for glamour, innovative designs and utmost creativity. Designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil and designer Nikhil Thampi presented their exquisite collection to celebrate the style in royal way.
This year, ‘Style: More than you Think’ is the intrinsic theme of the show. A real locus to celebrate the authenticity and unexcelled style by breaking the stereotypes and defying conventions to show the world that there is more to one style which the world doesn’t know about.
The ambience was of styles, colours and music. Kavya Trehan and Kamakshi Khanna has made the evening enormous by their thrilling fusion of sounds. The sounds of style and passion. I’m a big fan of Grain aka Gaurav Raina. So the music of the show was some bonus points for me as the designer collections were collaborated with edgy techno electronica music of Grain and the singers.
Nikhil Thampi’s collection for BPFT 2017 was called Sylph. According to him, it revolves around the imaginary spirit of the air, which draws its breastplate from gold threads, charging across with metal sleeves sweeping countless tribes and cultures. The collection completely resonates with the core theme of ‘Style: More than you Think’ .
Shantanu & Nikhil’s collection was a different taste of style. In their words, their collection is a reiteration of their vision of belonging to something that is bigger than us. It embodies structured trench coat, inspired bandhgalas and long sherwanis teamed with drapes. Convertible Nehru collars, handcrafted vintage coin buttons and rustic medallion like brooches represent choices of strength, for what an individual believes in. Blenders Pride Fashion Tour is a fitting platform to showcase their collection as it echoes style as ‘More Than You Think’. Sidharth Malhotra’s fascinated appearance as the showstopper in S & N’s show was simply astonishing.
