WHAT AYURVEDA SAYS ABOUT POTATOES

We might consider potatoes as a simple staple food sometimes and we might spend our childhood singing, ‘one potato two potatoes… ‘ but potatoes has plenty of benefits for our health. 🙂 Ayurveda suggests something more about potatoes which we actually can’t even imagine. In today’s blog we are going to discover some facts about potatoes.

 

In the beginning of sixteenth centuries Portuguese people brought potatoes for the first time in India from Brazil and from then it has started cultivating here. In Europe it has been introduced in late fifteenth centuries. But now in India and throughout the world potatoes are equally loving and deliciously represented in various ways.

 

 

Potatoes are full in protein, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, sodium, potassium, copper, sulphur, chlorine, iodine, zinc and others nutrients. Beside that potatoes also has Vitamin A, B and C. Not only these but it is enriched with amino acids and enzymes. So we can easily make out how beneficial potatoes could be. Now let’s see it’s benefits:

 

1.Potatoes help to reduce constipation problem. Boiled potatoes are the best for it. Diabetic patients should avoid boiled potatoes. Instead if they have access to have the baby plants of the potatoes, they can include it in their diet. These helps to improve bowel issues.

 

2.Potatoes improve nervous systems. We usually peel off the skin of the potatoes and use it. It greatly reduces the benefits of the potatoes. But if we can have it boiled with it’s skin, it will be more beneficial for our nervous system.

 

3.Potatoes help to soothe active acne. If you are having skin issues like active acne, just grates a portion of a potato and apply it over the acne. It will soothe your skin by gradually removing it without leaving any scars.

 

4.Potatoes reduces post-pregnancy weakness. Infusing potatoes in different dishes help to regain the strengths which we, women usually have in our post-pregnancy time as potatoes are full of nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

 

There are so many other benefits of potatoes but I have mentioned these as these are highly suggested by the Ayurveda. But remember, nothing is good when you consume excessively. So make sure to have potatoes moderately and step forward to the healthy lifestyle. Good luck!
