Last week it was a great time spent in Taj Bengal with Jewellery Designer Shillpa Purii. An exhibition, ” has been held over there with some of the talented designers. Mumbai based Jewellery Designer Shillpa has exhibited her exclusive ‘Leaf Collection’ here. Her beautifully crafted jewellery is totally apt for festive and wedding season. She has used crystals, pearls, semi precious and rough stones in her collection. The elements which she has used in her collection are as rich and versatile as the designs. Whether you have a festive occasion or a relaxed evening with your friends, Shillpa Purii’s collection has that utmost power to flame up your inner beauty.
In the stream of the conversation with her, some questions have been popped up in my mind. So, here are a glimpse of our conversation…
1) Tell me something about yourself.
Qualified by the IIJS and a professional jewellery course from Hongkong, I have been in this industry for the past 24 years. In the year 2005, I branched out to semi precious jewellery and it’s been amazing to follow you’re dream and passion.
2) When did you get into jewellery designing and when your brand has been launched?
Same as above – 1993 jewellery designing for real jewellery and 2005 launched Brand Shillpa Purii Designer Jewellery for semi precious and fashion jewellery to cater to the audiences demand.
3) Let me know what is the “Leaf Collection” is all about.
I have a long standing love for nature and its elements, be it using in wood or designs that are inspired by nature, this collection is no different as it is LEAF inspired.
Dauntless yet elegant, this collection is for women who love to embrace their feminine side with confidence. This collection is more indo western slightly tilting towards western in its genre. Pearls, turquoise and black stones along with setting stones is what she has mainly used in this line.
The collection designed is romantic in appeal and is distinctive in nature. Some pieces the leaf is used as a hanging and in some pieces the leaf are an integral part of the design such as the ear cuff.
4) What materials do you use in your jewellery
High quality semi precious stones infused with shell pearls, baroque pearls and metals including silver.
5) What do you think is more effective nowadays, a physical store or an online store in respect of jewellery purchase?
Online is the way to go, be it young college girls or modern working women or even stay at home mothers all are tech savvy and understand the value of time and convenience, with methods such as COD and interactive customer service and easy returns online is the best way forward.
6) Tell me about your upcoming events.
For the festive and wedding season we are holding exhibitions in the major metros where we can extend to a wider audience and have tied up with a few designers like Rajdeep Ranawat for bridal photoshoots
7) Any message to the upcoming jewellery designers to inspire them?
Semi precious jewellery is the need of the hour with the variety and choice it offers and owing to the increasing cost of real jewellery.
Shillpa Purii Designer Jewellery is available at these multi-designer stores – Kali, Simaaya, Jhoomar and Citrine .
