MY HOME RENOVATION | LIVING AREA AND BALCONY
I have been getting DMs and emails continuously for giving a thorough view of my home after I renovated it. I was thinking not to put it up as I’m not an interior designer or architect and whatever I did to my house just out of my creative knowledge and my husband’s support. And we love the everything how it turned out finally. So here I’m sharing renovated living area and balcony area in this post.
Let me show you the before and after look of the entire living area:

I have planned my living area to keep it in Scandinavian themed. So everything is in grey and white, from wall, furniture to curtains and flooring. All the furnitures are custom-made and in every furniture I have maximised the storage areas. The entire process took me around three months and costs around Rs. 5 Lakhs approx.
I’m starting with just the entrance door. Previously it was just a hitting view to bathroom after entering my home which I hate. So planning that area properly is so important. Firstly I have revamp my main entrance door. I have colored it in white and placed two framed mirrors and one designed mirror onto it just to give some depth. Just opposite to the door where the washroom door was visible, I put up a framed designed glass and did a palmet curtains to cover my bathroom area and maintain privacy.

Moving to the right, here I have kept my shoe rack and created a cozy sitting area over there. I have layer it up with coloured cushions just to give a pop of colour into the room. On the surface, I have put some greens. This is ‘Jade Plant’. It is a very good indoor plant, need real low maintenance and has versatile home remedies. Moving to the next here wasn’t any separation before. That means I have open kitchen before which wasn’t a good thing at all. So I made a wood and glass combined separator here with door which I can keep open or close whenever I need.

Moving to the left side from the entrance door, here also I kept some green. This is ‘Philodendron Xanadu Plant’ and an amazing indoor plant. First of all it is aesthetically very beautiful and it also purifies air. Beside that there’s the sofa which I picked up from Pepperfry. This sofa is so cozy and goes perfectly with our theme. Just next to the sofa there’s a coffee table which I made with scratches. It has two sections beneath to keep phones, papers and magazines. At the back of the sofa, there I have made three empty frames just to give some depth into the room and to make it look large. In the back of the coffee table, here’s a small round table which I bought from old furniture market and coloured it according to my colour theme. This table is of Burma-teak. And the figure is from an old auction house.

In front of the sofa, there’s a book cabinet where at the top shelves we have kept few of our awards. Under the television, there we have planned to make our bar unit. It has nice places to hang glasses and giving nice space to keep bottles. At the top of the unit here we kept some scented candles which I feel truly relaxing.
We also have changed the doors in our theme. Coming to the ceiling, we kept it quite simple. Gave some gothic inspired centres and cornice. We also gave some lighting effects there in blue colours, just to get a nice soothing ambience.

In the balcony, where you can see the shutters at the extreme, it used be for the separation purpose. To separate living room from balcony. I have shifted that shutter to the extreme and made a wood and glass combined door partition here. It gives some more privacy to the living room, at the same time it gives a nice complete view of the room. I have changed the flooring of the balcony and put wooden textured tiles. And put stone-like tiles to the wall, just to break the monotony. Also I want to make my balcony something close to nature and a place where you actually feel good.

So here’s every little detailing of my living area. I hope you like it! Do let me know if you have any suggestion for me (because I’m not a professional interior designer 😀 ). I would love to hear from you.
